Marcellino Castle
 Have
a royal vacation in a castle in Tuscany located between
the famous cities of Siena and Lucca, Italy. Situated
just opposite to the island of Elba, this historical
luxury castle overlooks an olive grove and is close
to the artistic and ancient Tuscan towns and cities.
Structured with grace, this lovely old luxury castle
is private with interesting architecture, furnishings
and décor from the late 16th century reflecting
the old noble Tuscan style. The luxury castle evolves
over two floors.
Ground Floor: The ground
floor of the castle opens out into a very impressive
entrance hall with oil paintings and a valuable 18th
century wooden table. As you enter, you will find to
your left a small sitting room with an antique wooden
desk, a bookcase, and Internet access. Right at the
entrance hall on the left is another sitting room with
a fireplace and a bar in the corner with access to a
small and cozy living room richly decorated with an
antique chest, two comfortable lounges upholstered in
rich damask fabric, satellite television, VCR, CD and
DVD player.
To the right of the entrance hall, there is a ceramic
tiled and a bright well lit dining room where the guests
can enjoy a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner according
to their preference. At the end of this dining room,
there is a much smaller and a very intimate dining room
and kitchen.
First Floor: The first
floor can be reached through two staircases, one to
the left and one to the right of the entrance hall.
The first staircase leads to a beautiful suite in nuances
of green with a big terrace (Suite 7). There two double
bedrooms (Rooms 5 & 6) and another suite (Suite
4). The tower can also be accessed from this wing of
the castle which hosts a junior suite (Room 11).
As you descend the staircase, you will arrive at the
mezzanine level that leads to another double bedroom
(Room 9), a junior suite (Room 8). There are stairs
leading to the attic with a junior suite (Suite 10).
This room has a panoramic view and wooden beams.
The second staircase at the right of the entrance hall
has two impressive suits of armor. This leads to the
amazing Grand Duke’s bedroom (Suite 3). Painted
in cardinal red, this lovely suite overlooks the front
and back gardens. Comprising of antique furnishings,
this great room has a 17th century bed head, bookcases
and a grand piano. This second staircase also leads
to another two suites (Suites 1 & 2). One of the
suites overlooks the southern garden and the other looks
out onto the northern garden.
Delightful and graceful, the rear garden of the castle
that showcases a lovely rose bed, a lawn and outdoor
lounges. This entrance can be accessed through double
glass doors at the end of the entrance hall. The garden
is great for pre dinner drinks or sipping a long cool
frosty drink during warm summer days. To the right of
the garden, you will find a patio with chairs, tables
and canvas umbrellas. This is ideal for al fresco dining
during the summer months or lunch during the early spring
time when it is just getting a little warm.
The swimming pool is at one end of the garden accessible
through a gate. The pool can be used from mid-May to
the end of September. The swimming pool overlooks a
split level olive grove and during the hot summer hours
is shaded by ancient pine trees. There is also a “Jacuzzi”
pool that can be used all year round and a fitness area
with equipment. This area also has a changing room,
and a bathroom.
All the bedrooms and living spaces of this lovely
castle are splendidly furnished and equipped with modern
amenities like airconditioning, mini bar, private safe,
colour satellite television, telephone with independent
external line and modem access, radio and personal alarm
clock. The bathrooms are all hand painted with travertine
marble being pristine and equipped with hairdryers,
full set of bath towels.
The owners offer guided visits to the famous cities
of Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Volterra and San Gimignano.
In order to enhance knowledge, culture and history of
Tuscany, you can also visit the surrounding medieval
towns of Massa Marittima, Populonia and Baratti, Suvereto,
Campiglia Marittima, Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri.
With abundant history and a long line of traditions,
this beautiful castle in Tuscany is enchanting with
its enthralling past that has named Tuscany the "Pearl
of Italy".
